Houdini is my first breeding male and an extraordinary gift of fate. He comes from Honor Maine Coon Cattery here in Portugal, and I was fortunate to welcome him after his original placement fell through. His breeder, with years of experience, recognized early on that Houdini had the right morphology and strong lineage to contribute meaningfully to the future of the breed — and I trusted her judgement wholeheartedly.
From the beginning, Houdini has stood out. His dark smoke coat has grown richer with age, contrasting beautifully with his white markings, and his bone structure and size continue to develop into something truly majestic. He is more independent than my neuters, content to spend time on his own, but he still welcomes affection — always on his own terms, and always with a quiet dignity.
Though calmer by nature, Houdini does enjoy bursts of play, especially with Cheeto, and he graciously accepts grooming sessions from Jaya. His favourite game is chasing the laser light — with such intensity that I sometimes have to stop before he wears himself out. Like many intact males, he calls often, but in Houdini’s case, his deep meows sometimes sound uncannily like words: “hello”, “mom”, or even “bruh.” It never fails to make me smile.
Houdini embodies both strength and elegance — the qualities that make the Maine Coon such an exceptional breed. I look forward to the role he will play in shaping the future generations here at Lusiravn Maine Coons.
