Jaya is Cheeto’s litter sister and the second Maine Coon to join my home. From the very first photo I saw of her, she stood out — with her striking black tortoiseshell coat and the classic “resting grinch face” expression that so many Maine Coons are known for. Her wild look is wonderfully misleading though, because Jaya is the gentlest of souls.
She is my little princess: sweet, affectionate, and full of quiet love. While she adores cuddles, she’s also playful and spirited, happily chasing after ping pong balls, toy mice, or even a scrunched-up ball of foil. Boxes are her kingdom, and she’s always the first to claim a new one.
Though she would no doubt have made a wonderful mother with her calm and balanced temperament, Jaya was always meant to be a cherished pet. Alongside her brother, she deepened my love for the Maine Coon breed — and together, they were the inspiration behind my decision to one day share these incredible cats with others through breeding.
